BOFA unveils filtration technology for metal additive manufacturing

BOFA International has developed technology for fume extraction and the exchange of filters in metal additive manufacturing. The AM 400 system uses technology that enables the filters to be exchanged on site without risking a thermal event. Filters are contained within a separate housing with a seal, allowing for filter exchange to be completed without isolating the additive manufacturing equipment. Users are able to monitor filter status and coordinate exchanges to match maintenance schedules.

The AM 400 system is suitable for high air flow up to a maximum flow of 190 cu ft/min and a maximum operating pressure of 250mBar with leakage at <30ml/min at -10mBar.
